Seiso, Paul Cooper, Sensei, Co-founder, Director and Guiding Teacher at the Two Rivers Zen Community, Narrowsburg, N.Y. and the Realizational Practice Studies Center in N.Y.C. Seiso serves as guiding teacher for the Lincoln Zen Center in Lincoln, NE. He is a member of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association & the American Zen Teacher’s Association. He has studied and practiced in both the Soto and Rinzai Zen traditions. He received precepts in 2000 and is an ordained Soto Zen priest and transmitted teacher in the lineage of Dainin Katagiri. Seiso is also a practicing psychoanalyst; former Dean of Training at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis where he is a senior member, training analyst, clinical supervisor and on the faculty. He is a faculty member at the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. He has written numerous award-winning poems and articles. His books include: Zen Insight, Psychoanalytic Action: Two Arrows Meeting (2018)The Zen Impulse and the Psychoanalytic Encounter (2010), Into the Mountain Stream: Psychotherapy and Buddhist Experience (Ed.: 2007) and Still Standing: Three Stones Haiku (2013).
