Jisho Warner founded Stone Creek Zen Center in California's North Bay in 1996 and is currently the abiding teacher there. After graduating from Harvard University in 1965, she became an artist and later an editor, while practicing Zen. Jisho edited many books on the Dharma and was closely involved in the modern classic "Opening the Hand of Thought" by Kosho Uchiyama Roshi. Her essays have appeared in a number of books. Jisho trained under Dainin Katagiri at the Minnesota Zen Meditation Center, Koshi Ichida at Valley Zendo in Massachusetts, Shundo Aoyama at Aichi Senmon Nisodo in Nagoya, Japan, and Tozen Akiyama at the Milwaukee Zen Center. She was ordained by Akiyama Roshi and received dharma transmission from him in 1996. Jisho has four transmitted priest disciples and two lay practice leaders. She was active on the board that developed the SZBA and is a past president.
